OK here is my next thought. Go to your control panel, hit menu. got Control mode and make sure LCD panel parameters is connected. Also if I remember your build correctly the negative lead on your tube travels a long way up to your control panel and back. Have you tried taking your meter out of the loop or making to loop smaller? You might be having a lot of resistance in the negative lead. One last note. I like your control panel. I'm about to build the housing for mine and since we have almost identical parts would there be any chance you would be willing to share your design files for that?

Your build is very similar in construction to mine, and the Z axis was by _far_ the most painful part of the build, trying to get everything aligned properly to prevent binding etc was a nightmare!

for the power issue - if you have not tracked it down yet, one more area to look is in your settings in LaserCad. When you select a set of cutting parameters for a given color, make sure you don't have PPI checked. If you do have this set you are pulsing the laser between the high and low settings and your meter is integrating this and showing an average power.

FYI, we're designing Z table for the stage. It's train driven instead of belt driven. Plus, it's made of stainless steel. Very solid and powerful

By the way, you may want to leave some room on the bottom part of the frame you're building. Why? I think it's better if you could load up some bricks to the bottom of the machine after completing your project. Remember that this is a big XY stage and when it is running at 1000mm/s, it may cause some vibrataion. So, if you have some bricks loaded to increase the mass (weight), it may miniumize the vibration and be more stable. Also, you may want to put some "T" or "angle" (I don't know what it call) to the four bottom lengs. Current the four legs seems a little bit "thin" and weak. I'm a little bit concerning the table may be 'sharking' when running at high speed. Just my through.

Have you considered counterweights on the opposite side of the XY tracks? The motor will have to work twice as hard to accelerate but no work for deceleration and it would completely eliminate forces being transferred to the frame. Even a half-weight could greatly reduce vibrations.
