When you installed, did you do BOTH installs, or just the cad. It is the same installer, but two parts to it.waltfl wrote:HI all

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
Hi tim
thanks for therespond,
I installed the lasercut programm and the second part the USB driver.
but the programm does not recognize the machine I have try 4 different USB cabel all the same result.
I ALSO PUT JUST FOR THE FUN a USB stick with som simple drawings on it in the Ustick slot and try to read it from the display direckt there the same result " no Udisc ".
and because we dont have a manual for the new card yet and the new card is not identical with one of the old ones we just can guess and trial and error. this means lots of wastet time and still not running probably.
I just hope it is nothing with the DSP, I mean for $ 500 it should be what it said ,commercial right.
maybe you got mor ideas.
we have to ask marco if he can get the driver for ethwer 64 bist XP and windos 7 64 bit.
greetings
walt

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
Marco is here. Just arrived ShenZen (China) flying from Shanghai. I'll post the 64bit driver in a day or two after discuss a little bit to Mr. Wei. The DSP support Win7 and 64bit but a driver is required. Manual for the new card is very similiar to the 2011 model only the wire connection is a little difference. But it's not a lot difference though and it's pretty common.
The 2012 was coming out with a little rush so manual and driver couldn't catch up. Please understand that having a new card is better than having an older version not upgradable.
After this week, eveything should be much smoothy. Just be a little patience
Marco

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
Hi Guys,
I'm also having a bit of bother with the Corel Macro not sending the file to Laser cut5.
This maybe what Walt is having trouble with as well but his command of English probably stops him from describing his problem properly.
I have installed the LaserCut 5 stand alone program as well as the Corel plugin and every thing works in each program BUT the file is not parsed to the LaserCut 5 front end from Corel.
I can draw a shape in LserCut 5 stand alone program and then process it just fine but The plugin for Corel won't send the file through. I notice a small requester pop up on the LaserCut 5 front end for a split second but not long enough to read anything on it and it will only do it once on the first opening.
I also had a bit of a problem getting the USB to work until I hit "Check USB Port" button and found it on #4.
I still need to get the limits sorted out and also all the inputs but there isn't any label for "Air Assist" or "Blowing", just 3 inputs and 3 outputs and the 3 software switches (check boxes) - door open, water flow, and foot switch.
I guess I will just have to sit there with a multi-meter and find the one that switches on and off with the program start.
I think there will be a lot of head scratching from new owners of this set up as the docs really aren't up to it for getting the whole package set up and some of the labels really have no meaning (like input and output) for a first time user.
I can't wait for the revised manual.....
After playing with the settings for a while it looks like it will be a really great little combo package. On first start up the machine has never gone so good. Another reason for me to think I had a few issues with the last controller set up.
Now I just need to get the laser to fire and for Corel to parse the file and every thing will be great.
Richard.

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
Walt,
Have you tried to reformat the UDisk from inside LaserCut 5. When you "Download" to the LCD screen (Button on the right hand side) , the requester that pops up has the option of "Formatting UDisk". Maybe you could try that just to see if it works and then add some files to the UDisk to see if it reads them. I read somewhere ages ago that the UDisk needs to be formatted as FAT32 to be able to use it but the laser program may do this for you.
Rich.

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
The latest download of LaserCad5.5 (5.4?) fixes the comms problem.
Corel Draw does indeed parse the file info to LaserCad5.
I still have a couple of small problems to iron out though.
I can't for the life of me get the limits to work. Every time I set it up 1 way the gantry locks up and won't move and if I set it up another way the gantry just slams into the stops without recognising the limit activation.
I have tried setting "High" ( as it should to recognise the 24V with NC switches) with no affect and "Low" setting doesn't work either.
I removed the cover so I could watch the led's on the limits when they trip and every thing is working on that side of things but for the life of me I can't seem to get the right configuration for it to work.
The Gecko drives work well with the "Falling Pulse" setting and I am sure I have the direction for the axis set up right. If I click on the arrows on the screen the gantry moves the right way as do the LCD panel direction arrows so that is OK!
I set the check mark on the "Hardware Limits" and the gantry won't move past the soft limits and if I do a reset the head just slams into the stops but does not stop the motion. The limits are sensed and you can see the lights (led's) go on and off. I have tried to set this to go the negative direction with the same result. It's almost as if each setting has an alter ego that tries to counteract the switch settings.
I will have to be a lot more clinical in my setting up this time around and make a note of what I do and see what happens again.
I can't get the laser to fire from the set up yet either as I don't know which settings to set for the laser to work. I have wired it up as per the set up instructions.
I don't think it's the water flow sensor as I have that bypassed.
The "Door Open" check box isn't set so that shouldn't make any difference.
The "Foot Control" also isn't set. What is this actually for ? Does it tie in with the Emergency stop Switch? as there isn't any reference to that anywhere or any reference to the air assist also.
There is no mention of an "Air Assist" anywhere.!
I can't find an output that comes on when the file is started or processed so I can't get the air to turn on and off yet. Getting used to this one though!! I think this is one part of the hardware that is absolutely critical for auto control yet it still evades me and I have to do it manually.
The motion side of things is great and couldn't be better. It's smooth and I can get almost 500mm/sec out of it before it stalls. That's 250 more than the old board.
I beg to differ with Marco that the board/software is similar to the old one.
There are a lot of new settings that are applied to the one interface which makes setting things MUCH easier and you only need to apply the password once at the start of setting up and it will remember it until the next restart. that's definitely a bonus.
Some of the new settings like Rising pulse and Falling pulse and the directional controls would probably have a novice scratching their head on what they do. The Manual really does need to be released very soon for these settings to be uncovered and brought out into the light so people can better find out what is going on.
All in all it is still a step in the right direction and the set up screens are consolidated into 1 screen so there is no running around all over the screen making setting changes. The setting tab on the right hand side of the screen is now incorporated into the Options screen. That's a bonus.!
Making setting changes happen quite a lot when you are experimenting with different cut paths and speeds/feeds and power levels for differing materials.
I will have another go at it in a while after dinner.
Richard.

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
Hi guys
thanks for the respond.
maybe I should try to explain my problem different.
on my computers ( like I said 3 of them) the programms lasercut5.2 and coreldraw X4 works fine not probleme inside the computer but if I hit the botton " find com" the programms can not find any com port no matter where I connect the usb from the machine DSP.
the display on the DSP works except the Y endswiych what has a kink.
the DSP on start up goes to system resetting it moves the X and Y axis to the endswitch thats all the system never gets out of the resetting until I hit the stop botton.
now because of the probleme that I can not connect the DSP with the computer I can also not do anythings to change the parameter settings or anythings else.
I did everythings after the manuals , the description from tim and the advices on all the groups that brings me to the conclusion there is ether a special trick to it or the 2012 DSP is faulty.
I have just hoped that somebody know the special trick what save sme the time to return the DSP to marco and wait for a repair or a new one because I fiddle around now for 9 weeks and have a lot of orders laying around.
with the old moshidraw I could at least do some of the work. but now I can not do anythings.
thanks again guys.

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
Hi Walt.
Go to the files section and download the latest 5.5 software. Marco downloaded it this afternoon.
That should fix the problem. It did for me.!
Have you set your limits up yet as I can't seem to get them working yet either. Maybe some help from you will be needed or there is a problem with the implementation in software. Some times I wonder if these boards are actually tested on a machine or just tested in a lab.
regards
Richard.

Re: help 2012 DSP will not connect to lasercut 5.2
This is the same problem I have too. When the laser head hits the stops it doesn't trip the limits in software and it also doesn't drive back away from the limits clearing them. I have to press the stop button to reset it and that also sets the "Origin" to 0,0 when you do this and then you can't drive away from the limits because they are still active. I press the stop switch just before it hits one of the limits and then that is where the Origin is. If I press the "Origin" button on the LCD screen it doesn't reset the software origin displayed on the screen to 0,0. It just uses the point of origin where you pressed the "Stop" button when resetting.waltfl wrote:Hi tim,

I think there is a problem with this in hardware also.
