850mm 50W CO2 laser tube. Are you sure?

Post by Tech_Marco »

Recently a customer told me that he bought a 50W CO2 laser tube and asked if he could be powered by our 60W CO2 PSU. Of cousre you can he can. But it surprised me that where did he get the 50W tube? It is by common fact that most manufacture product CO2 tube in 20W, 35W,40W,60W,80W,.... 50W... sounds very strange

After getting more info from the customer it make me concern that the tube was not even closed to 50Wbut in fact, it is a 40W at most. The tube lengh is 850mm (0.85m) with diameter 50mm. I never heard that any manufacturer in China can break the physics rule and could make a tube output over 40W when the physical lenght is limited to 850mm. Plus, the seller (eBay) claimed that the optimal current is 13~15mA. How could it possible for 13~15mA to product 50W power. It is not even closed to 30W. Then, the seller claimed that the tube can last 3000~4000hrs. Wow! That is Amazing. Good luck

I urget my customer to do more research before jumping into the wagon. Low price is good but... if too cheap, you know something isn't right
