Laser tube and power supply connection

Post by daniel.macke »

Hello,
I am ready to order a 80W RECI tube and the power supply, I just need to know how to safely connect:
-The HV power cable to the power supply terminal?
-The HV power cable to the tube anode?
-The ground return cable to the tube cathode?
Should I get some accessories (spare connectors, insulation...)
Thanks.

See this diagram should get you an idea how to connect the PSU and the laser tube. Caution: do not use soldering iron to make coonection!

Thanks for your answer.
If I should not use a soldering iron, what is the recommanded way to make connection to the tube?
On the 80W power supply I am going to buy from you, what is the HV terminal exacty? (plug, screw terminal?), will I need to purchase a male connector to fit into the PSU terminal?

You just need to wrap the wire to the pin a couple round. Then, use a wire tide to fix the position. After that, get a silicon tube to cover the pin and is possible, inject silicon get inside the tube

If you use a soldering iron trying to connect the wire to the pin. Chance is that you will break the bond between the pin and the glass and gas leaking will happen sooner or later. Most folks made this mistake and I did that too when I first playing with a CO2 laser tube years ago
