I've been cutting 3mm acrylic at 8 speed and 30% power which is just enough to cut all the way through and the ma meter shows 11ma which seems low for cutting at those settings. I verified the amp meter is working by using a digital meter and it also said 11ma so ma gauge is good.
I just had the original 40w power supply go bad so I installed a light object 20W 40W 60W spare I had. Now I can cut 3mm acrylic at 8 speed with 12% power (6ma) and it cuts clean through like 30% (11ma)) did with old supply. Engraving with the new supply set at 1% 300 speed engraves enough to catch my finger nail on. With the old supply I engraved at 12% for the same result.
So my question is can the tube be receiving too much power even though the ma gauge shows low ma?
I have supply on TL and PWM frequency set at 15000 per the specs for the tube in machine.
High laser output with low ma

Re: High laser output with low ma
Different power supply has different output characteristic. Some laser power supply won't fire even with 51% but must be 52%
The "%" doesn't mean anything. You use current "mA" instead when dealing with power. 5% output from brand X may not (most likely not) with 5% output from brand Y.

Re: High laser output with low ma
I realize the power % doesn't really mean anything but Isn't weird that a 700mm tube can cut 3mm acrylic at 8 speed so well for 6ma. I would think the ma gauge is bad if I didn't use my digital millimeter with the same reading.
The original 700mm tube cut only cut at 6 speed with 16ma and a 850mm tube bought from LO would only cut 7 speed with 16ma. Did they mix the gas perfectly in this tube or something?
And Marco I would like to thank you for your amazing work helping everyone on the forum. I'm sure it's tiring answering all the noob questions but it's much appreciated and just wanted to let you know that we all Thank You.
