DSP dialed in... <Converted K40>
I now need a good fan to suck out the fumes. The one that shipped with the K40 is junk. Any ideas on fume evacuation?
Thanks!

Hi David:
Great job! To help to minimize charring issue, use the PPI feature. Plus, you want to replace the laser head with air-assisted. I have a pretty cheap solution for you.
Use this: http://www.lightobject.com/1820mm-Laser ... -P701.aspx
You may need to adjust the height as the focus may not be the ssame as the original. But with help from air, you can boost power by 15~20%. Plus, it help to fight against the smoke from the focus lens.
I use this fan to replace the original fan as it's driving by DC12V. The result may be a little more better than the original as it spin faster.

Thanks Marco! I bought the air assist nozzle from you. I just haven't hooked it up yet. I am still trying to find a suitable air pump. My PPI is set to 20000. Is that too high or should I change it?

20000 is way too high, I think you mean 2000 right as the PPI should have a limit of 3000Hz.
For wood, I I think you may want to try 1000. Rememember that PPI will result lower output power as it's "dot", not constantly output. So, if you're using 20%, then you may want to change it to 40% to get the same result.
If you change the focus lens to our high quality lens, you may get 20~30% gain as the original K40 came with a low grade lens

Thanks Marco. I did buy you hire quality lens as well. If I may ask, does it sit glass to metal or should I put a little gasket around the lens?Tech_Marco wrote:20000 is way too high, I think you mean 2000 right as the PPI should have a limit of 3000Hz.

You can just put the lens on top of the mount. On the side, you may want to to put a gasket to center the lens. Flat side down, convex up. The best way to clean lens is by ultrasonic cleaner or use pure alcohol with soft pad. Don't rug it too had.

Re: DSP dialed in... <Converted K40>
Marco,
Thanks for the help. How can I set the PPI in PHCad? I can't find it anywhere. I did set my PWM for the power supply to 50000 Hz and seems to give me greater control. But I cannot find for the life of me the PPI settings in PHCad.
Thanks again!

Which DSP card do you have? Only LaserCad support PPI, bit not the PHCad. The PHCad only support the 2011model DSP card. On LaserCad, click the layer and you can configure the PPI from 50 to 5000 hz (may be higher
But over thar rang seems not making a lot o- difference

I have the older card which from my understanding only supports PhCAD. On a side note, I have my PWM setting for the 40W supply set at 50000Hz. Is that too high? Do you have any recommended settings?
