Laser supply not working after fuse blow; warranty

Post by jgecik »

Hello!

After finishing up a job, I blew the stock fuse on my upgraded K40 machine. The fuse replacement was no problem, but after turning the machine back on, my laser power supply doesn't work anymore. I've double-checked all of the wire connections and nothing looks fried. Everything else in the machine works fine (XY gantry, DSP, LCD, fans, etc).

I purchased the LPSU about a month ago, so I'm still well within the warranty period (I've emailed Lightobject's "contact us" email address to request the warranty information) so I'm hesitant to crack the LPSU open and start prodding around.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened? Could the power connection on the LPSU have gotten damaged before the fuse blew?

Thank you,
Jordan

What voltage did you apply to, AC220V or AC110V?
You can open the LPSU and check the fuse block.
The fuse should be "5A" and I think the original is either 1.5A or 2A something like that

Marco,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm running at 110v.

I opened up the LPSU and checked the fuse; the fuse wasn't burned out (the fuse read T6.3AL250V).

I'm not seeing or smelling anything burned out, broken or otherwise damaged in the LPSU.

I'll try a new fuse for the LPSU, but could there be any other issue?

Thank you,
Jordan

Update?

Is the LPSU fan running? If yes, check the "WP" see if it is grounded.

You may bridge the "IN" to "+5V" and "TL" to "GND" to fire the laser in full power. If it fire, stop immediately because it means that the LPSU is working.

Sorry for the late reply.

No, the LPSU fan isn't running after I replaced the fuse.

I have a short wire running from WP to G on my LPSU.
