I don't see a honeycomb big enough for that gantry on the website. What do you guys think would be a good source for a honeycomb that big, or is there an alternative product that would work good. I found aluminum expanded metal locally, is that something that would be good to use to?

Taylor

We didn't import any honeycomb at all because it is too big to ship. You may, however, use four pieces 900x600 to make up one. It may not the best solution but at lease it works

No problem, I think I may have a solution. I'll post it up w/ photos once I get to that point in the build.

thejuggernaut, did you finish your honeycomb alternative? I purchased this size machine also 1200x1800 and four of the smaller honeycombs. The problem with this is that the edge banding on the honeycomb causes the laser to get out of focus somewhat and I don't like that. I am looking for an alternative.

Not really. Because I am basically only cutting flat sheets of wood and acrylic, I just got some 2" angle cut and clamped it to my frame. Ran a few pieces across the length and put some 2'X4' aluminum egg crate light diffusers over the angle. I haven't needed to move the table up or down, because the adjustment in the focus has enough vertical adjustment for me. Eventually I would like to design a large scissor lift style to give me 16" of Z axis movement.
