POWER SUPPLY MANUAL/ INFO

Post by H.J.G. »

Hi All,
Now getting ready to wire up my 900 x 600 laser, the laser power unit is labelled as Jupiter co. model BH-80w . The spec according to the label is 30kv @ 26mA max., I am unable to find any info for this unit despite search on L.O. website or Google search. it has 3 leds on unit red, yellow, & green , the red is labelled laser which presumably lights when the laser fires the yellow is marked P (power on ? ) and a green led marked L ( ????).
It also has a press button marked text ( did they mean test) and an adj pot which is accessed from the side casing. Do I need to adjust this pot , or has it been factory set?
I am going to be using it on 80w reci Z2 tube, is this power unit the same as the reci DY10?

Thanks

Hi Henry,

That's the same supply I have in my machine. Take a look at the pictures on RCG and see if they don't answer your questions.

I did not need to adjust anything on mine. I have a 60W tube, though.

Hello,
I have the same power supply Jupiter 80W, and I use it with a RECI Z2 tube. They work perfectly without any adjustment. The max recommanded current for the tube (26mA) is reached with about 4V on the analog input, I never tried to get more.
Regards.

HI Andy & Daniel,
Thanks for the info, I think I am going to do the following
1/ Note and mark where the pot currently is
2/ connect a pot from +5v to ground and feed the wiper to the "in" connexion, increase the voltage in to max of 5 volts steadily whilst observing laser current start adj pot to give 26mA at 5v
This will ensure that I can never exceed 26 mA even with 100% signal from AWC 608.
3 / test fire from AWC 608 at max power and check current is at 26mA, if less readjust pot .
I think that due to supply voltage variations (uk 220-240v) this would help to get it spot on.
Had another thought about the "L" led this could refer to the L in TTL either high or low connexion, so this led may possibly light on an active signal ( which seems to be recommended as a low) in the threads I have read.
I cannot see a problem with the above but I am open to ideas

regards
Henry

Have you looked at the connection diagram Marco posted? It shows how to connect all the wires.

The photo below shows as well. L connects to TTL, P is Protect (water), G is GND, and IN is PWM. Follow the orange, blue, black, and yellow leads between PS on the right and controller on the left.

Andy that picture makes it totally clear, thanks again. Just ordered a new 50mA meter as the one I have presently has a full scale of 100 mA which would be harder to read in the 26mA or less region.
Like to see the needle dancing in the middle.

You're welcome. This is exactly the reason I took the photo, so somebody else could refer to it.
