which if any of the DSP output can be used to turn airassist
hi marco
question which if any or can it be programmed to turn the air assist compressor on only during cutting?
because if you engrave and then cut something you have to watch because during engraving the airassist
mess up the engraving.
maybe there is a easy way to integrate this in the cutting layers.

I have mentioned this for many times. The OUT2 will output singal when laser is ON.
But, thus is not a good practise because it take time for tje air pump to push out air. You shouldn't use air pump but air cimpressor with a air valve.

that's the problem I only use a compressor but output2 is always on when laser fires it should not be on if engraving.
what does a air valve do different? the program would need to be able only to give a signal if cutting is working.

I find having a front-panel switch for my compressor works just fine...

I see what you mean now. You don't want Air On when doing engraving but you want air on while doing Cutting.

many thanks for your help. it realy help to speed up production process because I don't have to load the file every time I change from engraving to cutting and back, especially for my series production.

Just curious.. Why should you want to turn off the airassist while engraving??
Depending on the material i see serious quantities of smoke coming from the material while engraving.
One of the purposes of airassist is to keep the smoke from the lens to prevent poluting, though??

I prefer a very slight airflow when engraving, but a stronger airflow when cutting.
However, the effect of the airflow setting on engraving seems to vary with the type of wood. Sometimes it makes no noticeable difference, other times it definitely does.

like I said if the exhaust is strong enough it will also suck the charred wood what is actually more smoke, and gives a clean engraving especially on acrylic.
the air assist gives you much more cutting power that's what is it for.

I talked to the programmer and was told that it could happen on the new model "X7" DSP card but not the AWC608.

without air assist the charred material still stays in the cut and the laserbeam has to first overcome thisbefore it can do cut on the material itself what lowers the cut
with the airassist the charred material is blown out of the cut and the beam can cut directly in to the material.

I have always thought the primary purpose of the puffer (as it is labelled on my K40!) was to keep fumes out of the beam thus giving it a clear(er) path. I can see that pushing debris out of the way (sometimes even helping it to burn) is also a good thing.
Bit of both I guess! Maybe a bit of all three even...

What I was looking for earlier this month when hooking my air assist pump up to OUT2 is an output that is enabled when the job starts, and disabled when the job ends. That is, the output is not tied to laser on/off or machine power on or off. When I press the go button, the output goes high (or low), and doesn't toggle again until the job completes.
I've got air assist working on OUT2, but as you point out, there's latency between when the pump is enabled and when air is outputted.
Also, I'd like the ability to control whether an output is high when enabled versus low when enabled.
What do the other outputs on the 608 do, and how are they assigned?
