Small rotary for K40

That is a good question. The only thing come to my mine is 'Wine' .
But K40 may not have enough power to do glass engraving though.

I've engraved glass with my K40 (with DSP) without a problem. Specifically, I buy glass tiles from the local hardware store and engrave them. Air assist is highly recommended because engraving glass spews lots of particulates. The inside of my machine is very dusty afterwards. Clean your lenses frequently when engraving glass. (Perhaps different types of glass yield different results, though.)

Isn't it strange how some machines will ? I have tried 17Ma @ 1mm speed and nothing at all not even a puff of smoke...maybe different glass has different impurities in it that allows the laser to burn?
It cant be the tubes as I am on my 3rd one.

The sample I received show no polish on the aluminum and it is not anodlized. I'll ask them see if they can do both for me
Plus, I see that the unit is very simple and probably we can mass production it with better design. Therefore, I decieded to drop my price to $105 . Hope you guys happy with that.

Yes, I've engraved glass with a Moshi K40. It was a piece of toughened glass and it engraved well.Then, like an idiot, I wondered if I could punch a hole through it (still with K40) - it took most of the afternoon to get all the broken glass out of my machine! (but it also gave me my first foray into disassembling the machine!)

I also get very good results engraving glass on my K40. Like a previous poster I use 4" square glass tiles from Home Depot. Planned on doing them as customized Xmas presents this year. Might be a different glass than others are having issues with. I have seen pictures on other web sites of engraved wine bottles. I imagine that some types and colors of glass absorb the IR and engrave good and some just pass the IR through and won't engrave.

Hi all,
ever tryed a metal nibbler, u can get them as air pressure driven or use in a normal drill,
all that is needed is a hole that is a little larger then the nibbler guide an the just follow
the pencil line an you have a nice neat hole (round) an a clean cut edge.

I've more or less finished experimenting with the rotary cutter on small brandy and aperitif glasses. It needs only a VERY light touch to mark the glass, any heavier and the glass will crack from the intense local hot-spot outwards.
I'm using the rotary bed (and no, to whiter asked, you can't put it on top of the existing z-bed unless all you want to engrave is pencils!) and was getting a bit of a problem with slipping. The rollers are knurled which means the workpiece is being supported on and turned by dozens of tiny pyramids so it is necessary to go gently.
I tried coating the rollers with rubber (air-cured latex) but this just made the rotary hurl my glasses off the device altogether! So i removed the coating and instead slowed everything down bit.
I've just ordered a hundred miniature bottles (about 1" long with a cork) to engrave for a local store - fingers crossed!
Meanwhile, I've got to do a dozen wine glasses - hopefully without cracking any of them!
