Looking for wiring diagrams
I am looking for the wiring diagrams for the NEMA 27 3-phase motors to the 3-phase stepper driver.
The motors have 3 wires coming out of them and the driver has 4 wires. I've attempted interpret the wiring diagram, however I am not electrically inclined enough to understand.
Just for further info The motors have a red, black, and yellow wire.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Looking for wiring diagrams
You need 3phase motor driver for 3phase motor
You can't use 2phase driver for a 3phase motor

Attached is a pic of what I am speaking.
I see UVW then VDC and GRND.
Please explain how to wire, thanks.

Re: Looking for wiring diagrams
Hello,
U,V and W are the motor terminals, you should connect the 3 wires going to the motor here. The initial order as no importance : if you have to reverse the rotation of the motor, just reverse 2 of the 3 wires.
VDC and GND are connected to your DC power supply. Check that your DC voltage is correct for the motor you have.
Regards.

Re: Looking for wiring diagrams
I have a 24VDC power supply. The specs say minimum 20VDC, typical 36VDC, Max 50VDC.
Will these run better with a 36VDC power supply, or am I safe enough with 24V?
sorry to ask all these questions, I am electrical knowledge deficient.

As long as your 24 VDC supply is capable of providing the required current, it will be fine. If it's not capable, you will have problems which will make it obvious.

Re: Looking for wiring diagrams
I have been able to successfully wire the motors to the driver, however now I cannot figure out how to wire the drivers to the AWC608 DSP controller. I've emailed back and forth with someone on the LO team, however I am getting nowhere fast. It took several emails just to get to the point where I was sent the diagram of the single phase wiring that you would use to convert a K40 from analog to digital. In the single phase wiring there are only 4 wires that go to the stepper drivers, however the 3MD560 3-phase drivers have 6.
Can anyone assist with this?

Update:
I just got off the phone with Tech Support, and I think I got Marco. Marco was able to explain how to wire things up to me and said he'd email me to remind me (I'm currently at work).

Re: Looking for wiring diagrams
It was Jan that I talked with earlier on the phone, not Marco. (glad to know that more than 1 person knows their stuff over at LO!)
Here is the excerpt from the email:
Here are the connection to connect the stepper driver (3md560)to the DSP (AWC608).
PUL+ and DIR+(from stepper driver) to DC 5V (AWC 608 DSP)
PUL-(from stepper driver) to PUL(AWC 608 DSP)DIR-(from stepper driver) to DIR(AWC 608 DSP)
Let me know if you have any question.

It is better to error on the high side with drivers like this. The reason for this is because of the inductance of the lines that could cause problems. If you are drawing 20V 2A from a line it would cause problems if it all of a sudden dropped to .4A and then jumped to 3A for a bit. If you were running 48V then the sudden changes would be smaller.
