Should the tube on the Pt100 fill with water?

Is the tube just for mechanical protection of the fine wires? When I put the probe into water, it seems to work just fine, but the tube fills with water.
Or, is it supposed to be sealed at the sensor end?

You need the water-proof version of the probe for full immersion -- ordinary Pt100 probes can have the tips immersed, but not the whole probe. It may work for a while, but then sooner or later, the probe will die.

If the tube fills with water and the open end where the wires come out is not immersed, then the only way, it seems to me, that water can get in is that the tube and/or cable sheath has a hole or split in it. I think that it is defective or damaged somehow. Check with Marco about a replacement.

If it filled with water, let it dried out and it should work fine.
If you need water-proof PT100 with fast response, try my new probe:

It's make of stainless steel and can be sumbersed in water water (whole probe!)
