Experiencing Wavy Diagonal lines

I am seeing wavy diagonal lines. I have tightened up all of my belts. I have run 100 cycle backlash tests on both the x and y axis independently and they have both returned to Zero (No backlash).

It seems that the DSP drives the X and Y access differently when moving diagonally.

Space and Cut Jerk: 8000
Speed_Factor 3.0
Start Speed 10
Min Acc 75
Cut Acc 200
Space Acc 200

Try this setting:
Cut_Jerk: 3000
Space_Jerk: 3000
Speed factor: 1.5
Cut Acc 1000
Space Acc 1000

Try cutting on this two files and post the result:

Thank You for the tips. I will give them a try tomorrow.

I don't think that I can set the jerk below 8000. That's why I asked about the Firmware.

I checked my laser alignment too and found out it was off a little too; bringing in the alignment helped reduce some of the wavering too.

I will keep you posted

Couldn't sleep so I tried a run with the new setting (JERK=8000...as low as I could go)

The attachment should give you an idea of the scale and detail of what I am trying to do...

I circled a few of the problem areas......PS I have done better I will vary the settings to see if I can tweak it in.

Backlash is not a problem...when the backlash is off/incorrect the outer mold line cut (cut last) would not be centered.

...I will test more tomorrow....This time I will focus the laser too....

Thank You for your help and I will keep you posted.

I talked to the programmer and he said that the Cut_jerk and Space_jerk acceleration were limited to 8000. Setting lower lower than that won't do any good. I am trying to understand what is the best setting get for you.

Tell me more about your machine if you can. Need to know the kind of motor and driver you're using. Does it come with a 2:1 reduction gear. What is the size of the gantry. How fast did you are run the job? Just need more info so that I can try on my machine

You can see my machine and schematics on http://www.timsmachines.com/home/co2-la ... lectronics.

The machine is using 570oz motors with Gecko G213V Drives.

I calibrated the motor movement with a digital dial gauge (As you can see Expected 20.00 got 20.00; no backlash that I can measure)

The X-axis is limited to 1150 and the Y-axis is limited to 600

I used a 20x60 vslot beam for the x axis and I bet that it is the cause of most of my problems:
  • 1) The main beam probably is not stiff enough.
    2) Vslot wears over time; buildup of dirt causes pits and bumps.
    3) Vslot tolerances are not all that great
    4) Vslot probably does not have the accuracy I am looking for
I am currently looking at redesigning the main beam and looking to use HWIN Linear slide on the X and Y axis.
