Hi,

I just purchased this power supply:

Here is a picture of my old power supply

I assume that the H L P on the new supply are the same as TH TL WP respectively and wired it up. It ran for about 5 minutes and blew the fuse next to the AC plug in the back of the machine. When I replaced the fuse and hit pulse button, the laser fired, but I noticed that the amp meter read almost 40 and I usually run in the 20 - 25 range.

Does anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Did you check the power setting on the DSP display? Whatever it's set to, that's what the power the laser fires when you press the laser button on the DSP controller. Press the down arrow to move to the power and speed fields and press enter to change whatever field you're on. I run mine at 20% and have the controller set up to get power and speed from the software. This way I can fire the laser for alignment purposes at a low power and set it higher for cutting in LaserCAD.

Take care,

Bob

That fixes it when I hit pulse, but even adjusting the power inside of the software supper low it's still hit 40 amps

I also noticed that the LED on the power supply is trying to tell me something but I'm not sure what?

UPDATE

Last night, I found the adjustment screw on the side of the power supply and turned it down so that now I'm running at 28mA however after running for about an hour, the laser stopped firing again. This time there was no blown fuse and when I shut it off and turned it on back on it began to work again. So in short I still need some help with this please.

You didn't tell us what power rating of laser tube. What kind of DSP or software are you using. It is very hard to tell or make any advise without knowing what you have.
Just like "My car is broken, why or how to fix it?"

So, please list specification of your machine and tell us what fuse are you using. Screen shot of software setting is a plus. Plus, send images of your machine from inside out
