Visicut plugin for awc 608

Post by Redgee »

Dear Marco, hello mister lee,

I've found a nice tool from a German university.
Installing an ip-cam on the laser, viewing on the laser-machine-bed, you can arrange your laser-jobs by seeing the leftover material ( sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand )

Sadly there is no plug in for the Awc. Only for epilog and lasersaur, but the gateway is open source

Could you or someone who is fit in programming take a look on this project please?

The link to the project visicut : https://github.com/t-oster/VisiCut

It would be a great step in productivity and less wasting material when visicut is working with Awc

Thank you

Seems to be no really interest on this topic

So Marco one more question: is it possible to make the lasercad background opaque like on Corel draw? So I can run the webcam picture of my work table to adjust my lasercuts on the material?

LaserCad is not an open sources software so even though there is nice plugin out there, can't use it

I don't know what exact the plugin can do but I have been talking to the programmer about adding a camera In/out on the main board. By one click, the drawing screen will show the image of current draw. One more click the screen will flap to the laser head and see work closely. Just in case someone did a cutting job but wan't cut through and not wanting to lose the costly materails. So one can re-cut again. But once object being removed out from the laser bed, it is extremly difficult to follow the old path and do it again. But with help from a camera and a laser pointer (red dot), one can turn off the laser beam and switch to low speed of the cutting to find the path. Once confirmed, then one can set the power to the desired level and do the cutting again. I think this is a great tool to add.

I'm going back to China on June 20 and I'll discusee further more on this feature. It will not avaiable to other LaserCad but my copy only. Someone may find other copy of LaserCad but I do not support those. Anything happen, folks who used other copy of LaserCad or OS and got the card ruins, I'm not responsbile for it. I keep reminding them NOT to use other copy as I have no control on those, especially the OS pathc. If you used it wrong, it will "brick" the card. The card will be declard "Dead in peace". Well, I been try to helpful but some folks just not listening.

By the way, there is no more new feature or upgrade on the LaserCad as a new card (touch screen) will be launched in next couple months. Well, I will not jump into the wagon until it get matured. Keep in mind that any new software or hardware are having bunch of bugs need to fix when it first launched. Just like Windows, should a new version come out, you don't want to use it untill 2nd patch or 3rd patch launched

Tranks Marco for your answer.

In fact. I am very happy with the Awc! Colored screen an touch are nice features but nothing I need.
The possibility to have a printer driver for the dsp ( I have to laser mark a lot of serial number plates, and that is not really handy with Corel draw!!) and maybe the feature to link a cam are quite enough for me to work.

Epilog, I think is not open source too, but it works with visicut!

The laser cut don't have to be open source, it only has to have a plugin for visicut, like the plug in for Corel or auto cad

To connect the laser software to visicut, the creator of visicut posted a library, helping the programmer ( in this case mr Lee) to program the plug in.
So when you go to china, maybe you come back with good news!

Best regards red gee

Hey thanks for you the info. I'll discuss with the programmer when I got a chance during my trip to China
Most likely I'll ask him to 'open' some ports for me to do some modification or feather addon. As long as not down to the hardware embedded level, I think he will let me do it
