Don't get fooled by the seller on Alibaba or AliExpress!

A customer just asked me if our DSP can support a 50W K40 machine. I was quoted to myself: when does it happen that K40 is supporting a 50W laser tube?!

See this ads: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/LY-3020- ... 13406.html

You guys know it better that it is just a standard K40 (D40) with 700mm laser tube. It couldn't be 50W in power but the max output is 35W or less. I already told that customer to be careful for the false ads that the seller made. FYI, some sellers in China are trying to make themself "looks" better than their competitors by making false description. If you drove it by 22mA and though that it was 50W, the chance is that I may get a good sale on optics and laser tube soon

Marco

It's also worth noting that you're gambling with the quality of components. Take this mirror for example:
mirror1.jpg
mirror1.jpg (87.13 KiB) Viewed 2644 times
That's the first mirror closest to the tube of my K40III. Aside from alignment checks and about an hour of laser time cutting cardstock, this happened midway through my first attempt to cut 1.5mm acrylic (10mm/70% power). I'd taken care to make sure the gap between the tube and mirror was at least an inch (mine came set up at 3/4") and the laser still cooked the mirror 70 seconds into a modest cutting job. The second mirror is fortunately unmarred, but it's going to get replaced too.

Play it safe, order better mirrors with your DSP.

This is totally unsafe, It could reflect the invisible laser beam away to un expected direction !.

Wow, that's crazy!

What percentage where you running your power at when that happened?

Toasty,

I was running the job at 70% power with 100ppi; my analog current meter wasn't going above 10ma when it happened. Marco isn't sure what the coating was, but it was obviously thin and unsuited for the first mirror. That was not a fun find.
