What are you using the sensor for?

using for limit end pos. X/Y
type sensor NPN WIRING BROWN, BLUE AND BLACK

I don't suggest you to use that magnetic sensor for the XY limit switch. It waste a lot of valuable space on both XY and it is bulky. The length of each sensor is about 2.5" (62mm). If you have to use magnetic sensor, then I have to get you something different; magnet + hall sensor

Dear Marco,

the orginal sensors(still on the machine) are PNP (no) with 3wires brown-blue-black, please can you explane how to connect these sensors to the AWC board.
we think these type of sensors are not the correct types?!

on your site we have found NPN(no) sensors so maybe these are the right ones for the AWC board ? so we orderd 2 sensors.

the sensors will be used for ref. pos. X-Y
this means wen the machine power turned on the X-Y spindle turns the laser head in one direction till it found the sensors(most right upper corner worktable)
please send elec.wiring diagram how to connect the sensors to AWC.

kind regards,

M.Bruntink

Usually people buy that sensor for power 'Z' table for auto focusing. For home switch, we usually used switch type proximity sensor or magnetic sensor.
Example: http://www.lightobject.com/Proximity-Li ... -P616.aspx

If you really need to use that probe for home, you need to power it up by the on board 24v dc. Brwon: +24V, Blue: ground
Then connect the Black wire (NPN N.O.) to X+ or Y+. I'll do some test to confirm about it

I forgot to mention that if this is normally opened (NPN Open), it means that the Output is always High (+5v or 24v in this case) when the sensor is not engaged. So, you may want to change the "LimitPolarity" to "Positive" if the one you test didn't work, or the other way

Marco

Update: "LimitPolarity" need to keep "Negative"

I have tested the Capacity proximity switch today and it worked fine.

Connection
Brown wire to +24V
Blue wire to Ground
Black wire (output) to X- or to Y-

Keep the parameter "LimitPolarity" unchanged (Negative), the same way as a regular switch type sensor used

How do I know the sensor is working?
Ans: once it is connected and powered, A LED on the top (wire side) will lit once the sensor put closed to any object

To test:
Set the laser head to the center of the stage, power it up the machine and the laser head will try to go "Home". During this time, a quick triggering on the sensor (tip the sensor with a finger) and it should cause the laser head to react, just like touching a regular switch sensor
