From trial and error.....

The display issue will be noise from the HV laser supply to tube connection, if all looks well check n check again, pull the supply out of any enclosure to try if need be..
Regarding the at work / air assist issue, Laser 1 socket, pin 1 0v pin 6 +v will give you 2.6v (from memory) while the controller is driving the machine, ie turn everything on when needed, I've no idea why this isn't deemed a major fault in design with users putting up with turning all sorts of things on and off by hand on a CNC machine.. don't know what pin 6 is meant to do cos it's marked up in chinese.. 2.6v not great but it's driving my opto isolator no prob..

I haven't gotten around to trying the air assist for months as I just turn it on by hand but I will give it a go later. I have a 3Volt SSR that I can put on and hope it works.
The laser power supply and cabling is a fair way away from any noisy wires but you might have a point there. Most of the hardware is sitting on wood with the only metal around being the frame holding it all together and pretty good earthing for most of the stuff.
I did have a problem for a while with the earth leakage tripping but it turned out to be the neutral wire feeding the home was burnt out at the pole outside so all our power was going to ground. Could have been disastrous for the little woman and I and it showed up a lot of faults on most of our electrical equipment.
