Gadroc,
have you solved the 1/4 cut yet? mine is doing the same. i'm setting the dsp to 0 as a work around, but i'm sure i'll forget at some point and screw up a piece.
didn't know if you solved it and hadn't posted anything about it.

marco said he was working on it.

No I have not solved it yet. I've had evening meetings all week so far. I'll try tonight with 5.85 software after the kids go to bed.

Is so frustrated that I couldn't duplicate the problem on my side. Got to be something that my setup is different than you folks. One thing that I know for sure is that my HOME is at Top-Left. I'm going to simulate the Bottom Left and Bottom right today see if I can catch the probelm.

Thank you for your patience.

Yea. I hold little hope for it to fix it (LaserCad 5.85 - I'm sure Marco and team will get to the bottom eventually) seeing as it's triggered by interacting with the DSP control panel.

My physical machine is a Top-Left home. If I move my origin to a top position and have my relative position to set to one of the Up settings it will not do it due to the home limit switch. I often use Left_Bottom as the relative origin since I do a lot of combined engrave cut jobs.

Update: I installd two limit switch to the bottom right corner and tested again, stll not able to duplicate the 1/4" cutting. It came out a clean cut

Are you using Level High or Level Low for laser output? When I was testing mine, I always used Level Low
Today is the 3rd for testing but I still not able to duplicate the problem.

I think you guys need to do me a favour. I need a detail of setup from you folks who is experieing the 1/4" cut problem. There must be something in common somehow. Software setting, hardware setting, hardware using,...whatever info you have it could save me a big time!

I'm try and get a full write up tonight of my hardware setup. I am using low level (only thing that works). I have done the hardware modification to prevent fire on power off (problem existed before that).

i've been using the "work around" by setting the display power to zero before each job. it works if you remember. But if you are using the U axis as the Z axis as i am to work around the Z issues. Thats another story.
anyway, on the first pass of the cut it didn't make the 1/4 inch cut, because i set power on the display to zero, which is all good. But this job required 3 extra passes and after the first pass the Z would move up 2mm the 1/4 bug would show its ugly head and cut my material adding an unwanted 1/4 inch cut.
so long story short. the work around "setting the display power to zero" only works if you don't call for mulitple passes.

:(
anyone have a work around for that?

The cut issue has reared it's ugly head again. I was running a bunch of small scale engravings on a new material to decide on what speed and power settings I wanted to use, and had no issue with any of those. The laser was in soft layer params controll mode for the first engraving, and in LCD Panel mode for the last 4 or so. Once I was satisfied, I scaled up to full size on the image and added a box for a cut line. I downloaded this to the laser. After the download I changed back to soft layer params before I ran the job, and it made the little 1/4" cut. I have uploaded the file in case you would like to look at it.

This issue is still happening to me also.. No real solution discovered yet either. It always happens when the laser does this little X motion and activates the power supply during that motion. Sometimes if I disable the laser power on the physical control panel it does not activate the laser, but still does the movement before it starts the real work.

What version of the card you have? Did you upgrade the lastest OS on the mainboard yet? When did you buy it?

I couldn't duplicate the issue with all my cards since day one the 2012 card was launched. So, I really have no idea what's the issue. Plus, there was not a single report received from the laser machine manufacturers in China. FYI, they were selling roughtly 200x DSP card a month or so far 600 cards. So the issue is so odd.

By the way, there was one batch of DSP cards that having "firing" issue when DC power to the main board was disconnected before the laser power supply. Did you have the same card? If so, did you fix it by following my instruction to remove 4 components from the main board?

After I talked to Li, he worked out a specail patch that may be able to fix the issue for those have 1/5" cut. Please try it see if it help. What it does is to 'trick' the DSP by setting power to "0" when returning home.

Note, if you don't have that issue on your card, please do "NOT" install it!

Idon't have an issue to engrave it. See attached image and YouTube video
I shrinked it "195mm x 176mm" as my machine can't fit your image

I have not been able to repeat the issue. I will try to get it to repeat again this weekend.
