Hi Marco
We could also use the 1.5x expander. I just bought the 2.5x from you (should have been 2x, but I overlooked that). The problem is not so much the mirrors, but the lens. You have to take into account that part of the lens is covered when installed, In our case, only something like 15mm of a 20mm lens is visible. With a 1.5x expander this would just work.
Will it be available in the store when in stock?

Re: Beam expander + beam combiner
Marco,
I am building an 80W laser for cutting 1/2 inch plywood and 1/2 inch plexi and have an steppers, drivers and DSP Controller. I getting up to speed on the optics and 80W RECI tube and have not ordered the optics yet what do you recommend for: (My Guess in parenthesis)
1. Mirror Size (25mm)
2. Beam Former Size (need help)
3. Laser Head-Mirror Size (25mm)
4. Laser Head-Lense Size (20mm)
5. Laser Head-Focal Length (4 inch)
Do you have any pictures showing a beamformer installed?
Thank You for the education

Re: Beam expander + beam combiner
The beam diameter of a 80W Reci tube should be 8mm. If you use 1.5X beam expander, the size of the beam is running about 12~13mm. So, 25mm reflection mirror is good and 20mm focus lens is good as well. The reflection area of a 20mm is "25x 0.707" = 17.6mm (roughly). So, in order to do it, you need to make sure that the hole of a laser head is big enough to allow 18mm to pass through.
For 80W tube, I don't recommend 4" (100mm) focus lens as it take a lot of power to drive a long focus lens. In your case, I suggest a 68.5mm or 75mm at most. Unless you can use a 130W tube, otherwise don't use 100mm lens.
