Are you using AC110v or 220v? Yes try 10 turns see if it works out or not. I found thAt the issue is happening on 110v setup only.
If you're using 110v, you may want to try 220v on the switch.

I am using 110v. So you are suggesting putting power supply setting at 220. and running 110 into it to see.

Switching the power supply setting from 110 to 220 seems to have solved the problem.

Try the PS see if you can get 18mA output using full power output at 220V. If it can't, let me know
We found out that the problem was caused by a pull-down resistor. Instead of using 3.9Kohm, a 3.2Kohm was used. It is just a little bit lower that's why when adjusting the VR for frequency or switching to 220V may fix the problem. It works fine for 60W or other power supply. If the problem still exit, let me know and we can exchange it later. Currently my partner is going to replace all resistor before a new patch of 40W will be shipped to me

Mine was running on 240v and had the laser staying on problem. With around 5 or 6 turns out on the pot it seems to have fixed it.

I'm working on a better solution. By adding two resistors on the board and change a resistor to 4.2Kohm it seems a better solution. The reason it happened is that the frequency in China is 50HZ but it is 60Hz . Recently when we tested it with 4.7K, it stop the 'leak' issue but the overall output was limited to 12~13mA which seems low for 40W. So, we will test more and will figure out what is the best value of the resistor to enable stable output.

After searching the forum and finding that awesome wiring diagram and following it to the letter, I'm still a bit confused on two points:

I have no idea where exactly the laser tube cathode goes. Here's a picture of my laser power supply:


The anode is wired into the back of the supply.

Also, I'm still a bit unclear where the main power from the outlet gets wired in. As others have mentioned, I have the grouping of black and red wires that are mounted to a small circuit board leading from the main power line to a pair of bare wires, a pare of wires leading to the on/off switch and a pair of wires that mounted to the original power supply.

Any advice would be excellent and pictures would be much appreciated.
