Hi Walt
(thank you so much for your time and patience)

Was that test from reset .22v---cut 3.65--- then after cut .22v?

If so something is really wrong this end

At the pwm terminal of the DSP . I am definitely getting whatever voltage was used for the last cut or whatever volts were used for the test fire button. It seems DSP is not clearing down.

So that raises another question why is the laser glowing with a variable resistor ?
It glows as soon as any voltage is applied to the PWM terminal the firing power stops and starts with the TTL level as I would expect.
Ah!!!!! Maybe that's correct because there should not be that voltage on the PWM when its finished!

I put a switch between the DSP and the laser PSU..switched it so no PWM signal was reaching the power supply...pressed the test fire and got the normal volts at DPS (PWM)
but obviously no laser firing....after releasing the button the volts stayed. switched it through to the laser and it started to glow.

Even with my extraordinary bad luck I cant have a faulty dsp and power supply surely ???????
I have checked every connection back to its power source with the ohm meter and they all read OK .
I have a good steady 24 volts to the dsp with a )v that checks out every where it should.
I have a good 240 volts to the Laser PSU and the 24 volt psu .

I am stumped ;looks everso like the dsp *shrug*?

Hi john
hmmmm ok you did the format with the display in menu -right and the format from the program if you click download you get on the left lower portion the option "format hit this too.
then click reset on the display. and try it again.
with the glow I am not sure but I think the tube has a internal failure because this glowing of the cathode should never happen at all, not even during heavy cutting.
it looks like there maybe could be something with the ground of the machine, unplug the machine and go with a continuous meter on every ground except the negative on the tube and check if you got connection .
greetings

Hi Walt

Yes I formatted the display then clicked format in the download section
I am still getting the "final voltage at the pwm after its finished.

The grounds all check out

The tube ground goes to the ground on the back of the PSU. (separate)
My main earth checks out right back to my consumer unit.

the 24v checks out ok to the dsp from the 24v power supply.

I have even tried a separate "earth" (ground) to another part of the ring main..

The DSP definitely holds the final voltage at the PWM.

Are there any firmware updates for the dsp ?

John

Yes I did. If the problem is not the DSP, then you can send it back for refund
