T9 connection

I bought this T9 controller a long time ago and finally have time to play with it.I hooked up the display and the controller (nothing else connected to the controller) to the 24V supply and the display comes up and there is a "communication error, press the ESC key" showed up.Since I couldn't find the old version of software and I came across the forum with a version 7.22.23 and loaded into my windows 10 computer. The driver shows up on the device manager and the program comes up fine and the "attempting to connect..." show up on the screen except it couldn't find the T9. Did I miss something or I used the wrong software? Can you guide me to the right direction to resolve the problem? Also is there an update for the hardware?

I found out the software can detect the controller without the display and I don't know why? Is this mean the display is bad? Need firmware update or else.
