Laser output low

Items currently on laser

X7 DSP Controller
LO 20W-40W PWM Power Supply
SPT 45W Laser Tube- Light Object tested 45W at 13ma 53W at 18ma

Laser size: 1200mm x 900mm engraving area

Current Issue: Controller will not fire laser more than 5ma

If I test fire the laser through the power supply the MA meter shows 10ma. If I test fire through the X7 the MA reads 5ma. If I send a file through lightburn to the controller and run the file the max output during the execution of the file only shows 5ma at the metere. Settings for the file show 80% power but only get 5ma. If I adjust file settings to 95 percent, I only get 5ma. It seems that no matter what I do I can only get 5ma through the controller to the laser.

I adjusted the max setting for the laser in the manufacturer settings to 98 percent (I know it is high, it was just to test) Max min output is 0.

Water protect is enabled and is run through the flow sensor purchased through LO. It was a three wire model. I supplied 5V to the meter from the controller, yellow signal wire is connected to water protect port, black ground wire connected to controller ground. Water protect is jumpered to ground at the power supply. I have tried removing the water protect at the controller and jumping it to ground and still only 5ma.

Power to the controller is provided by a 24v 14amp power supply running the controller and stepper drivers.

Power supply is on a 15 amp switched breaker box. Potentiometer on the power supply is on max. Will turn down when I get this figured out.

Pinout:

TTL connected to L port
PWM connected to IN
Ground to ground
H no connection
5V no connection

Am I missing a setting in the controller to get a higher output? Is there something wrong with the wiring? I used the diagram found on the LO forum. I only want to run the laser at 13ma.

Controller runs the file perfectly all drivers and motors run smoothly and cool to the touch, but I just can’t get a higher output for the laser.

What is the minpower1 of your cutting job(shown on the controller during the job)? Disconnect the connection between the laser power supply and the controller. Use a multimeter to check the controller laser output. IN to GND should read 5V when power is 100%. The laser frequency setting should be 20000Hz. When you hold down "pulse" on the controller, it uses the maxpower1 on screen. Please let us know the result. When the water protection on the controller is enabled and water pin has no input, it will alarm and stop the job.

reading at the pwm and ground is 4.48. That reading does not change when I press the laser pulse button. If I send a file through lightburn to the controller with 100% the reading is 4.48.

I did adjust the max output to 100.

20000 hz is the setting also

I disabled the water protect for the testing

If it is getting 4.48V, the current should be higher than 5mA. Now please connect the laser power supply to the controller and check the volt reading again.

Reads 4.98, ma meter still reads 5ma. Even changed ma meters and still the same.

Now it won’t fire the laser on the first pass. The laser fires on the second pass of the project

Ok so I just redid the wiring from the controller to the power supply and everything is fine. I had no power on the PWM wire at the power supply.I think I had a bad wire. It shot up to 22ma. I had to stop it fast. It’s adjusted to 13ma now on the potentiometer.

The controller still won’t fire the laser until the second pass of the project. Any ideas?

Thank you so much for the support.

Check the layer parameter, and maybe try another file.
