Technique to cut thick wood

I needed to cut 6.4mm oak with a 50w machine. Two passes doesn’t reliably cut thru. I found that the software allows for easy mirror cutting on the back side of the wood
First cut a straight piece of wood that’s clamped to the table. I hot glue magnets in the strip
Put an index mark in the center of the strip
Download the pattern with the origin at the lower center
Put a notch in the wood and align it to the mark on the wood strip
Set origin just above the mark
Cut patten then cut a mirror pattern around Y axis on the back of the wood while aligning the marks
Don’t change origin between cuts
