Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
Hello,
It has been awhile since I have seen anything new on being able to use the U-Axis for the rotary engraving and was hoping to get an update if this was still in the works. I am using LaserCAD 7.78.10 and the LO-X7 controllers.
Thanks!

Good question. I'm hoping Marco will respond as that's something I'm looking forward to also.
Marco - any update?

Bump. I really need to know this. I bought an extra motor driver for U and got it all set up then realized the software won't let me use U for rotary.
Now what?? I guess I need to wait for this new version?

Re: Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
The programmer is still working on it. Current he added the 'ramping' engraving feature and I guess it is OK. Better for stamp making
He just finished a power vs. speed library for handling different materials. It looks pretty simple to use. Just created a name for a setting like "Cut 5mm acrylic with 5mm/s" and every time you highlight something and click the color layer, you can call out the power setting.
He is working on the U axis for rotary. I guess it take a bit longer because it is not only programming for the LaserCad, he also need to work on the DSP firmware. In the mean time, you still need to use either 'X' or 'Y' to handle rotary

Re: Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
Thanks for the update Marco! If there is any kind of list for people to notify for the new version, please add me. I already purchased the extra motor driver and have the U axis working with the Rotary!
When I use the rotary with Y, the settings must be quite different. What velocity/accel values do you recommend for the rotary, and what steps/revolution setting should I use on the driver? I have tried a few different things, and I can make it rotate, I'd just like to know the ideal setting.

Re: Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
One of the reasons I purchased this DSP, was for the rotary U-Axis feature.
At the time, it was implied that it would be there as an update in the software.
I would rather have a working U-Axis instead of doing rubber stamps w/ramps.

Re: Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
You need to send the board to us for upgrade. After that, you will run on RayCam instead of LaserCad. Those two software are almost identical but the Raycam is a special version for LightObject. The upgrade is limited to use who purchased our X7 back to January 1st, 2016. Any card purchase prior on that day will not be considered for free upgrade. I think the manufacturer may soon add the U axis in the near future without the update. This is one of the reason I'm going to invest more time and effort on X7 because the programmer failed to take his promise. And, I found extremely hard to deal with him for upgrade or for other issue.
By the end of June, I'll launch another laser controller card with option to do wireless control through Android phone or tablet. By default, it support the U axis. I have tested a few feature of the board and I'd the better engraving. I'll post a few pictures soon

Re: Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
I just installed RayCam v1.2. I didn't see any U-Axis support ?
If I send in my LO-X7 to upgrade the firmware and run RayCam v1.2.
Will I have the ability to use the U-Axis ?

You need to use the LCD control unit to enable the "rotary "
It is not just software to be used alone to do U axis for rotary

Re: Any update on being able to use U-Axis for rotary engraving
What do I send in for the firmware upgrade;
the LCD Display or the unit you hook all the wires to ?
Is there a way to save my current settings or will any settings get lost ?
Will the v1.5 software & firmware upgrade give me a U-Axis. Yes or No ??

I did reply you a couple days ago
What you need to send me is the LCD unit
You need to save your parameters by Export it
If V12 can support rotary, why would you think v15 won't be??

Marco,
Sorry, my fault, I was confused a little.
What address do I send it to ? and how much ?
If you use UPS, I can include a label for return shipping.
Thanks !
