Hi Marco and lightobject
I got an E5 controller and some 415 controllers for a K40. I have it wired up. When I switch on it locks the steppers but the x axis buzzes and wil not go home. I have changed settings on the stepper controllers and in the software "um" to 5 and 25.4 . I tried dropping the amps and changing from 16 to 32. I tried changing the wiring but it still doesn't move.... I will call tomorrow.
Thanks
Andrew

Re: steppers not moving k40
Your acceleration setup for X seems to high. Set it to :5000
Also, the UM seems not right. I don’t know what kind of machine you’re running but if it is a K40, the “um” with 1/16 micro stepping should use 12.6 roughly or 6.5 if 1/32 is used。 If it is K40, the traveling range you set is it right as well: it should be 320 on X and 220 on Y ( estimated)
Post post User parameters screen shot as well. There is some important information I need to know before further assistance I can provide

Hi Marco
I changed the settings for the steppers, but I saw I have two DIFFERENT stepper motors (sorry ) The y axis is 500 steps?? How would i set that? I think the resolution is 1/205 or .0048 .....? Attached is the y-axis stepper

You only need to care the micro stepping settings on the motor drivers not the motor itself which is either 1.8degree or 0.9degree in general

Re: steppers not moving k40
Hi
The y axis motor is still buzzing. The x axis will move when I press arrow keys on controller but move sometime left or right not consistent or equal distance. So if .9 how should I change the y axis settings?
thanks
Andrew

Thanks for the tips. Steppers are sounding better but not moving consistantly. Sometimes left or right x axis. Sometimes up or down y axis
Yes this is a k40.
I attached user setting and manufacturer settings.

Just curious.. The photo with the dipswitch-settings on the driver.. was that before you set the motorcurrent? I think the selected peakcurrent of 0.21A is too low.. (i see off-on-on). You might set the current so that the motors become pretty hot (~50 degrees Celsius) after half an hour..
Motors can handle temperatures from over 100 degr. Celcius, so you don't have to worry about pretty hot..

Hi
Got my steppers working! I looked at the plug I cut off the steppers and noticed the wire sequence red, green, yllow blue ect. Then I changed my wiring on the controller and got it working smothly. Now I have system together and working.I got the direction working by changing the datumn settign neg pos.
However I get "beyond size " error. I have my um set to 12.6 steppers set to 16 on both x and y.
