JLD612 Relay Question

Post by rosso001 »

I am trying to use both J1 and J 2 as dry contact relays passing 24 vac through them. I am using J1 #4 and #5 normally open, and J2 #13 and #14 normally open. J1 works fine, when I connect an ohm meter to J2 #13 and #14 it opens and closes as it should. When I apply 24 vac to it, it closes but but will not open like J1 when the set temp is reached. Any Ideas?

My settings
0089
Inty = p 100
Outy = 2
Hy = 3
P56 = 0
Rd = 0

0036
P = 5.0
I = 100
D = 20
SouF = .2
Ot = 2
FiLt = 0

0001
Su = 80
AH1 = 80
AL1 = 82
AH2 = 80
AL2 = 82
Any Ideas

Looking at Fig 2. in the manual, possibly the issue is that with AL set higher than AH, the medium being heated and sensed is at the set temp, but is not actually reaching the needed temperature of 82 that will unlatch the relay, so it stays latched. The way I read the manual and your settings, the relays close if the present temp is below set temp and open when the present temp is 2 deg higher than set temp. I am not sure this is what you actually want -- some clarification from you mnight help.

But maybe there is a problem with the relay itself when higher voltages or currents than the ohmmeter provide are on the contacts.

Thanks for the quick reply. What we are trying to do is heat a volume of water to 80 degrees F. I need both J1 and J2 to be closed until the water is 80 degrees. In order to stop the system pump from cycling at 80 degrees I bumped the AL1 and AL2 to 82 degrees. I need J1 and J2 to close when the set point of 80 F is reached without the pump cycling. Any suggestions on temp settings for any of the settings would be appreciated.

Hi -- I need more details about your circuit -- what the relays control, and what temps need to be what and when. A circuit diagram would help. I suspect you might be able to use AL settings at the set temp and use a larger Hy setting, but that's just a guess.

When AL > AH, it supposed to use in cooling system. I'm not sure if it works on heating application (R=0) where AH should be ">" AL

For the alarm relay, where AH = latched ,AL = release. But you selected heating mode and reverse the AH and AL, I don't know if the relay can response it. I haven't tried myself
