JLD 612 Temp Failsafe

Post by ReWind »

I want to add a failsafe to my oven, to prevent an over temperature situation.

If I add another SSR with the power side in series with the one controlling the heating element, and the control side connected to terminals 3 & 4 with AL1 set to a maximum temperature, will this accomplish my goal?

Thank you for your help.

Yes, that is a good way to do 'double lock' for safety protection. However, you can't use the built in relay to handle the high current from the load. Instead, you should use the J1 (#4,#5) to power (need to feed power) an external relay with higher current capability to do the job. In other words, use #4,#5 as a "switch" to power up another relay (bigger) and shut off power for the load
