I just purchased a type-k thermocouple, ETC-CB-K1M, thinking it was waterproof, but now that I have it I'm not sure. I want to thread it into a fitting so only the tip would be exposed to the liquid but, the nut moves freely around the tip. Will the nut compress and seal against the tip or did I order the wrong thing? I would like to figure this out before I start drilling and taping fittings. Also, the nearest I can figure in the hardware aisle at Lowe's it that the threads on this thing are M8. Does that sound right? I know they are not NPT.
Thanks

Re: waterproof thermocouple
It's not waterproof, the fitting will not seal the assembly. RE M8, I'm not sure. I can't find the two type K TCs that I have.
