I need to make a straight cut across a 10" wide web of paper that is 8-9 mils thick.
Need to move the nozzle at 120 inches/sec so the mirror and nozzle unit needs to be as light as possible.
How much laser power would I need?

Re: Cutting paper
Why 120"/sec? (over 3 meters per second!!) I thought the max speed you could enter is 2000mm/sec (~80"/sec) and that is already frightening fast (my machine does it, so I know..)

Re: Cutting paper
I'm talking about a special machine that is single axis, not x-y.

Re: Cutting paper
That's a bit of a hard one as it's pretty fast but I reckon you might be in the right area with 70-80 watts or maybe more to be that quick, but that is just a guess with 80gsm paper and maybe a 1" foc length lens which gives a good small spot size that is great for cutting paper.
Is this for a production line as the paper moves out of a machine?
rich.
