Exhaust improvement

Post by tech_builder »

Hi,

I would like to improve upon the fan that comes with the 40W import laser cutter. Does anybody have any suggestions for a good, quiet fan that is capable of removing the smoke generated from cutting plastics and wood? I have seen some inline fans on ebay and amazon, but would like to know if anybody has any experience with them. The distance to the window is quite short for me (3 feetish), so losses in ducting is trivial.

From what I can gather, about 200CFM seems to be the recommended flow rate of air required. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

i'd go for tower pc fans, there are powerful ones and you can find quiet ones

heres what i found on a blog about quiet fans
Noctuas, Enermax or Scythe

i was thinking of combining the cooling + exhaust systems. the air sucked out would pass through radiators.

water cooling already exist for tower pcs, i wonder if 1 or 2 of them could keep it cool, perhaps with some additional peltier junctions?

this would definitely cut down on space needed to keep the water tank

I'm using this one for the K40.

It's not the best but it's quiet and it can suck smoke out from the machine if the lead is closed
