cutting speeds and power settings as a standard

Post by celjaka »

Hi,
i haven't used my laser in awhile, and i need to cut some wood, in this case, 1/8" craft plywood. i i couldn't remember what settings i used before, mainly because i'm terrible at writing down specs.
So i was wondering is there a "expected" performance for a 40w laser. as far as 40w lasers should be able to cut this or that material with some speed and power?

I was able to cut 1/8" craft plywood at speed=8 and power=55. I'm thinking i cut that faster the last time i needed to cut 1/8 plywood. i could be wrong, but this is what prompted me to post this question.

So, is there is some sort of expected standard for performance for cutting, to see if your laser is getting tired, or is working up to its potential.

all comments welcome.
